  • We’re looking for a Credit Analyst to join our world-class team in Commercial Lending Management.
  • You will be a member of the Commercial Lending Management Unit. This team is part of the Citi Commercial Bank which specializes in providing trade finance, working capital finance and treasury solutions for the Small and Medium Enterprise clients in Hong Kong.  Our Credit Analysts and Approvers perform the critical work of ensuring that the fundamentals of our client solutions are sound. They are the foundation of our Citi Commercial Bank business today, and the pipeline from which we’ll grow our next generation of leaders.   • As a Team Head within the Citi Commercial Bank Commercial Lending Management Unit, you will be leading a team responsible for underwriting and assessing credit proposals and transactions submitted by Relationship Managers to ensure compliance with the bank's credit policies and procedures, risk acceptance criteria, and regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for managing the credit quality of a portfolio of clients, completing annual reviews and performing ongoing credit risk monitoring to identify potential problems or concerns. While managing and coaching the team in underwriting new requests and managing the credit portfolio, you will also participate in client calls with the Relationship Managers and Sales Team Heads.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of credit analysts and approvers focusing primarily on Mid Corporate relationships and partner with the sales team and the risk team as necessary to develop client-centric financing solutions that differentiate Citi in the marketplaces while maintaining sound risk structures.
  • Prioritize and timely processes incoming credit requests, checking completion of package received from relationship manager and ensure timely completion of credit approval packages, including annual reviews, interim reviews, and classification memos.
  • Maintain an in depth knowledge of Citi credit policies and procedures and applicable local and U.S. regulations to assist the Business in achieving compliance and satisfactory internal and external audit results
  • Manage through change and provide transformational leadership.
  • Continue to generate ideas for improving lending process efficiency
  • Conducting research on prevailing industry and market conditions that are key inputs into the CCB’s business development activities
  • Working closely with division heads to review the issues and bottlenecks of the outstanding credit applications, by maintaining an efficient and effective working relationship with the sales team
  • Handle credit enhancement projects and formulate related guidelines and procedures
  • Learning about a broad range of industries and developing a deep level of expertise on Citi’s credit, policies and practices
  • Proactively participating in training and mentorship programs to expand their skill set and network to position themselves for long term success within the CCB
  • Cultivating their own position as a future leader within the business community, getting involved in local organizations to start building a strong network
  • Establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with independent risk, compliance, ICG product specialists, relationship managers and other relevant groups within Citi
  • Attract, develop and retain talent and motivate a team of bankers enabling each to achieve their revenue growth objectives. Maintain a strong candidate pipeline and build effective succession plans
  • Ensure safe, sound and timely underwriting practices and overall leadership of Citibank credit standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree holder with a minimum ten solid years of experience in a credit analyst and approver role in commercial bank lending, remedial management or relationship management, with four years of people management experience.
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial organizational structure and add value by bringing an optimistic and proactive approach to the credit portfolio management task.
  • The ability to go beyond immediate business silos to establish a multi-functional network.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to process and prioritize complex information and confidence and drive to develop high quality, client ready information with strong attention to detail and balanced risk management focus.
  • The resilience to adjust plans and priorities when necessary to meet evolving client and business needs.
  • Ability to embrace new technology and understand the role digital plays in the experience we deliver for our clients with focus on process discipline and achievement of turnaround time metrics.
  • Proven leadership skill with excellent interpersonal communication skills at all levels and ability to attract and retain credit risk talent.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with Sales, Product, and Risk teams in order to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Set appropriate goals and provide timely feedback, coaching, training and development assignments to motivate staff and to drive superior performance.
  • Train, develop and coach team members to become strong Credit Officers and serve as a talent pool for both CCB CLM and CCB coverage teams
  • Proficient in speaking Cantonese and English, with good command of Mandarin.
