Institute of Language and Culture for Rural Development at Mahidol University

Formulated an advanced graduate course that focuses on designing and adapting language teaching materials for use in formal and non-formal education systems. Reviewed opportunities to provide workshops on topics ranging from linguistics to participatory development; workshops are designed for faculty, students and special interest groups.

Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC)

Responsible for the examination of the learning materials used in BRAC non-formal primary schools, and for the design of communication-oriented interactive pedagogic approaches to foster learners’ intensive mental engagement in learning. Interventions designed for dissemination by the Education Development Unit also took into account unpublished research findings and an analysis of current classroom practices in rural schools.

Sri Thammerat Suksa School

Responsible for designing and teaching computer courses for Thai learners in a primary and lower-secondary English medium school. Taught courses, utilizing constructive, functional and communicative approaches to teaching, that lead learners to draw with graphic programs, edit using collaborative word processing software, manipulate images with image editors, edit video and audio using video editing software, and create HTML web pages.

Vietnam Primary Teacher Development Project(PTDP) & World University Service of Canada

Provided technical assistance to the PTDP: designed a survey that identified the needs of managers and teacher trainers working at provincial teacher-training institutions; the assessment was conducted on the basis of the need to enhance in-service teacher training and teacher professional development initiatives. Planned and implemented medium term, professional development courses at five provincial teacher-training institutions. Short, on-site professional development courses were also delivered at eight bureaus of education in The Province of Hai Phong. Supported managers, teacher trainers and teachers in adapting ICTs for teacher professional development initiatives, which include using computers and networks for developing and integrating new teaching methodologies. 

National Economics University, Hanoi &World University Service of Canada (WUSC)

The quality of instruction was monitored,curriculum was developed and pedagogic training courses were provided, in collaboration with the Faculty of Foreign Languages under the aegis of WUSC. Alongside the Faculty of Tourism, a series of courses for a component of the curriculum were created. For a joint degree programme, the Master’s in Development Economics Programme, which is run in cooperation with the National Economics University and the Institute of Social Sciences (The Netherlands), a course on academic English developed and delivered.

Hong Kong Institute of Languages

Planned and delivered courses which were personalized to individuals. The courses utilized of a wide range of modern materials and techniques that are most effective in teaching a range of language learners. Additionally, the dynamic courses for adults, corporate executives, young teenagers and children made use of modern resources such as computers, computer programs and the Internet.
